Without a date, I agree, no grade.

it can't be graded. Even Poor 1 requires that the date and mint mark are discernable.

PP01 (pocketpiece), if there were such a grade.

No, I'm serious Coinfrog. They each confirmed my suspicions. Thanks guys! ! I would have submitted it in a heartbeat if there was a slight indication of a date. I see some slight surface scratches. If it had a date, not sure if it would have straight graded PO1. I think I would have taken the chance..........after running it past you guys again.

Surely this has been artificially created, USSID.

Quote: Surely this has been artificially created, USSID. I don't know Coinfrog. Maybe, but not by me. Like fioti says, a pocketpiece. I heard of old guys walking around for years with a lucky half dollar or silver dollar in their pocket. I believe this is what happens to the coin.

Even common 19th c. silver coins that circulated everyday for 75+ years seldom looked like this, much less a Kennedy half that ranks among the least circulated non-commemorative coins in history.

Easy to do: Grind in down, buff it smooth on a wheel, and then tumble it to obscure the work.
