I was watching this Valens as I'm hoping to replace the one I lost. Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't something gone terribly wrong here. What the heck? Really?

Unless it's a rare reverse, I don't see anything from the obverse that would cause to bids to go that high.

Is the star-Γ-SISC Siscia mintmark considered rare?

I didn't find an example on Wildwinds with a "D" in the right field or a star. So maybe? However, this is an experienced seller and they would have listed it as Rare.

There are a bewildering number of mint marks for this issue. Completists yearning to fill gaps in their sets could easily drive the price to $100.
