I found this beauty the other night! The strong features caught my attention.. Is this what helps us find double dies? Pretty sure this is doubled but still need confirmation or opinions! Should I have this graded? I think it's in pretty good shape for its age and being circulated...

Photos are too blurry, sorry. Also, please crop photos before posting. Condition is not bad,but nowhere near good enough to be TPGed. One more thing,it is called a doubled die not a double die...just so you know.

If it is Machine Doubling it will look like this:
1968-Penny...-Double-Die?
Note the affected areas are no longer contoured, flat shelf like looking, a reduction of the devices and only found on the edges of the devices.
1968-Penny...-Double-Die?
A doubled has the doubling on the die. MD is caused after the strike altering the devices. Here is what a doubled die looks like:
1968-Penny...-Double-Die?
Can you tell the differences now?

Awesome pictures coop! I am constantly having to educate my fellow coin club members on Machine Doubling versus doubled dies. No matter how many times you explain it, people have a hard time getting it. Pictures likes yours really cement the conceptual difference very well.

Well I've explained it so much, I still try new approaches on the subject. I'm now at over 9,000 images and still adding daily.

Wow, I think you deserve a special ranking on here in my opinion. If you run for some type of rank or moderator of the sight then you got my vote!

Remember to look on the center of the devices and not on the edges. When you spot that is isn't a doubled die, move on to the next coin. Don't keep looking at the edges of the devices.

MD has no added value unless it is major.
