Hi Guys-

This is probably a long shot, but I am trying to possibly nail down the mint location of two Zeno AEs. Constantinople, Thessalonica, or Nicomedia.

The first one is 10mm, 0.8 grams, second reign, and with a type 1 monogram. The second one is 10mm, 1.1 grams, second reign, and with a type 1 or type 2 monogram. I have checked the "net", Wildwinds, and acsearch- and could not decide on Constantinople, Thessalonica, or Nicomedia.

Any ideas? Or- should I just say that they are both Zenos and find something else to check out-

Later-

The celators who made these were really inconsistent, so I wouldn't trust an attribution without a mintmark. You might be able to tell based on the way the wreath is cut (maybe the cuirass as well?), but I'd just file them away as 'Unknown mint'.

Very nice examples, by the way. I like monogram coins, but finding them in grades this good is hard (that being said, if you have a good eye, you can find really rare monograms quite cheaply - I've got a Zenonis and a Leontius I by looking closely at low grade lots).
