Hello QH. I think it's going to be hub doubling, as most 1972 pennies look like that. IMHO though. Let's see if Mr Coop might come through with an image or two. Happy hunting!

The die is experiencing a lot of die wear or polishing. Note the 'IN'. But master die doubling happened on about 1/2 of the cents that year form all three mints. Here is what to look for on these:  What is collectable with this coin, is a curved clip coin. An error.

What does the end of the clip look like on the edge? Does your coin show the Blakesley Effect?

What is the Blakesley Effect? I'm not very experienced with clips.

I looked up the Besekley Effect on google, and then checked my coin. It seems to have it, but I'm not sure. I'll put a picture with this comment so you can see. It looks thicker on the opposite side of the clip, which makes me think it's the besekley effect.

I think I can see it on the reverse side. It's definitely a genuine Curved (Incomplete) Clipped Planchet. Nice find!
