My grandfather was in the European Theater during World War II and brought home this 1938 half penny with several errors. How much do you suppose this coin would fetch at auction and do you think it is worth getting graded?
I don't see any errors, just a heavily circulated coin. Maybe some machine doubling-experts can advise. Dealers sell them in their bulk bins for 10 to 25 cents each.
I think this coin has taken a few hits in circulation. Even if there is some Machine Doubling, minor errors on British coins aren't as sought after as on US ones. My LCS has halfpennies like this in the junk tray for 10 pence each. Keep it as a nice souvenir with an interesting personal historical connection.
Those are not considered errors, just damage to the coin. An error is something that happens during the actual striking of the coin. Anything that happens after that is just PMD.
