Is the double looking rim on this an error?

Please show a complete photo of the Obverse and Reverse when posting photos.
It makes it easier in determining the answer.

Hello, and JimmyD is right. Pictures of both sides always help. As for the coin, doubled rims are common. I'm not too sure what causes them, but I find them way too often, and have been told numerous times they are common. No added value.

Collar problems are usually what causes double rims.

This is more pronounced in dimes.

Double rims or sometimes referred to as false rims have several causes. To name a common cause is a misaligned die strike. Another less common that typically goes unnoticed is a worn collar issue.

Full images of obverse and reverse may suggest more. Thanks, Doug.
