I believe this 1971-D reverse qualifies as a Full Step version? Seems to be Mint State possibly 63?

STEPS on reverse I can make out 5 steps on left side, 3 or 4 on the right side. Comments?

Too many dings on steps to get FS designation, but still a nice coin.
Struck through thread on reverse?

The Jefferson nickel was reworked in 1971. Detailed steps are not difficult to find for this year P or D.
Yours has too many hits even if all 6 steps were present to be FS. This doesn't qualify as a full step nickel.
Sorry.
I suggest you look at images in the PCGS Jefferson nickels that are graded with full steps and compare.

Just a thought.

Hello. First thing- your posting in the wrong forum. There is a Modern Coin Grading forum here as well. As for your coin, it is not full steps, as the bottom right part of it is worn away a bit. Sadly it doesn't qualify. Not sure of the grade for you. Sorry! Happy hunting!

Actually, OP did not request a grade and FS can be found among different grades. It is essentially a variety and, so, this is in the correct forum.

I agree with others that it is not FS. Even without the dings in that area, the strike weakness on the lower central area of the steps disqualifies it.

Ouch, you guys are brutal. I had compared the coin to photos of regular strike & full step and apparently didn't look close enough. Another "buzz kill".

I gave up looking for these. I looked for a long time and what I considered a full step, grading companies were calling full steps. We I forgot about this for years. I tried ag and figured out, that they grade, not by the steps, but by the risers not being affected. To me it is now a waste of time. I guess I'm more of a variety collector, rather than a strike collector. Same on full bell lines on Franklin halves. I got the full bands concepts on the Mercury dimes.

Thanks COOP, sounds like good advice! Lot of sources for info. on varieties, Cherry Picker guide and many websites. Need to learn which resources are bests to follow & which to ignore in deciding what coins are really worth looking for.
