tonight I scavenged a mere forty-four cents, but it was enough to boost the cycle's running total over the $260-mark and it was enough to also boost the monthly running total over the $25-mark, amounting to still being a couple of bucks over the dollar-a-day average. there's still a good chance to end this 31-day month with having found at least $31. it'd also be nice to crack the $270-mark by the 31st.

Thursday was International Cat Day, if you didn't know, and kitty karma must have been with me; I was straddling my bike & standing in front of a pair of soda machines, on my way home from feeding my gang. I had just picked a quarter from one of the machines and was giddy about it, stuffing it into my pocket and talking to myself... I began to make a motion to ride off when I spotted what appeared to be a pair of wild bucks on the asphalt right in front of me:



i was standing just a few feet from them, hard to believe I didn't see them when I first arrived there moments earlier...



it did look like two, but:



...it was three!



the first wild bucks since july 10 ($2). I've picked 18 one dollar bills so far this year.

finds have been way down for the past two or three weeks, there hasn't been much to talk about until tonight.

I've never found huge amounts of money, but one time I wss vacationing in Maui and I was at Polo Beach standing in the water an just letting the swells bob me up and down. Lo and behold cash starts floating by. I gathered up about 6 or 7 bills (all $1s). Looked all around and no one remotely close by. it being Maui I probably used the $6-7 to buy a pack of gum. If you've been you know what I mean. As a matter of fact I just got back from Kauai and that pack of gum would probably be out of reach.
