nice finds mrpink!! (I wish it would rain here. today the temp will be only 95 degrees for a high - the first time we didn't have a high temp over 100 degrees since May 27th.

We finally got some rain here this morning. Remnants of Tropical Depression 8.

good fortune was on my side tonight. i started my night an hour sooner than usual due to hurricane helene, currently 316 miles west-southwest of key west. we have sustained winds of 30mph, gusting to 50mph, expected to increase another 10-15mph through tomorrow afternoon. not much rain yet, but I'm sure more will come. I wouldn't want to be in the direct path of this storm. it's going to pass us well to the west, but it's a huge storm with an enormous wind field. I'm glad it's not any closer and I hope it doesn't wobble to the east. i walked out my door at just before midnight, was able to pedal around without much difficulty, despite the gusty wind, find & feed all cats. I was rolling around between bouts of rain and while the tide was low. we've been swamped by king tide for the past week, it was tricky getting around the past several nights, but tonight wasn't a problem. i was on my way home and had only one zincoln in my pocket when I stopped to check my favorite ice machine. the coin return produced seven quarters (worth a dancing apple ), which I pocketed and then I rode for home. I walked into my place at exactly 1am and sat down with the cat to start this. $1.76 on the night, only the 5th night this month that I've picked more than $1. running total at $305.79, hoping for a total of about $345 by black friday. 8 weeks and 1 day to go.

cat & I are safe.
with Helene there was hardly any rain here, but crazy wind, gusting close to hurricane-force... I had to wait until about an hour ago to go to washington street yard (two blocks away) to survey the mess. not too bad, nothing major, mostly leaves & fronds. the wind really cranked up after I returned last night. nasty. i'll go out tonight at my usual time, I expect i'll find all my kitties, but probably not much coin or cash. the ocean came ashore on south & western portions of the island.

tonight I picked $1.28 from one small parking lot and I didn't find anything anywhere else the rest of the night. I found: -a dirty, roadrashed george washington dollar coin in front of kennedy cafe; -a nice dime, protected from roadrash by being down in a deep crack in the asphalt in front of a laundromat; -a scattering of 18 lincoln cents in a parking space on my way out, all dirty & roadrashed. i got my dollar and a little more. good score. uneventful ride home. worth a dancing apple.

Glad to hear that the Keys weren't devastated by Helene and that you are ok, MrPink. And congrats on the finds - looks like you'll hit your goal.
