And a 2024 Celia Cruz quarter to boot! There's a thread about 2024 coins found in circulation - you should post it there (many people have goose eggs).

yes, I spotted that quarter in the pile, it was the only one of the 11... but I just returned from the pet store to discover I received two more cruz quarters in my change. i'll go post the pix in that thread.

Nothing like "free" gold and silver, Mr Pink!

truly. it only cost me a bike ride every night for 9 months. I encourage everyone to do the same, if possible.

$2.75, mrwiskers. 4 quarters = $1.

back in mid-october I picked 20 quarters from the coin returns of 2 water machines: 18 from one and another 2 from the other. 20 quarters is $5.

it still happens, just not at the frequency that it used to.

@MrP ..."...how much is that in American money?"...

...I was only joking, as I use that (joke?) with young cashiers (here in the USA), just to see what reactions I get ... Not unusual for one of them to ask a manager, just to be certain...lol...

..."I have yet to find anything at a coinstar machine..." ... I've found both a silver dime & silver quarter, as both silver coins were rejected ...

I've picked three or four silver dimes from the pavements, but not a silver quarter... yet...

a self-checkout machine at home depot gave me a very old & worn silver canadian quarter in my change several years ago.. when I'm at the stores that have a coinstar I always look, but I never see anything.

by the time I finished feeding cats tonight and started to head for downtown I had just two stinkin' zincolns in my pocket.

as I was heading for home after hot dog duty at 2:30am I rode through a gas station parking lot and I spotted this at an air-vac:

Excellent find, MrPink! Is there a car wash nearby that you check? They seem to be good areas for finding rescuing abandoned coins.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

there are 3 that I know of, but these aren't the old school car washes with multiple bays (that I grew up with) where you stand outside cranking coins into a machine and walking around the vehicle with a spray wand or soapy scrub brush. each car wash here is attached to a gas station/convenience store and has just 1 bay. it's all automated. drivers never get out of the car, they sit in the car for 10 minutes while the big scrubbers and flappy-slappy stuff does the job. then they drive out & drive away, or they roll over to where the air-vacs are. I look around at the air-vacs in some places whether there's a car wash or not.
