Excellent!

last night I picked $2.89 in well-scattered change-- the best night of the month so far, and best coin night since october 7 last year ($3.23)-- which bounced the cycle's running total up to $300.93. topping the three hundred-mark is a huge psychological boost.

the cauldron has been readied, so i'll spend the next week or two doing the paperwork, then dump what $treet $timulu$ I have accumulated since black friday of last year into the cauldron, probably later this month. it's almost time to make some gold again!

55 years ago, I had just migrated to Australia from England in 1969, I was 11 years old. We had to live on a Hostel in Perth, Western Australia until we could find a house of our own. One day I was running through the bush area on the hostel and I tripped on something, I turned to see what I had tripped on and to my amazement I had tripped on a rock and it had moved and exposed a heap of pennies and half pennies that had been hidden under it. There was a lot of 1964 Pennies, so I assumed they hadn't been there any longer then 5 years.
This is what I found..
Pennies - 1920, 1921, 1922, 1924, 1927, 1928, 1929, 1932, 1933, 1934, 1938, 1939, 1942, 1943, 1944, 1945, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1955, 1956, 1957, 1958, 1960, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964

Half pennies -
1922, 1929, 1938, 1941, 1943, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952, 1953, 1954, 1955, 1959, 1961, 1962, 1963, 1964

A great start to a Aussie collection.

Terrific finds! Though technically they could have been dumped in 1966, as that was the year that pre-decimal currency was demonetized.

Calzone the pre-decimal are not demonitized. I believe only one coin is demonitized and that is the holey dollar, but I know what you mean.

what I scored tonight tops friday's $2.89.

i picked $2.31 in well-scattered change. twice tonight- in two separate parking lots- I picked a tidy pile of zincolns & dimes. I ended up with 17 dimes tonight! also in one of those parking lots I picked a 2010 10 peso coin from the D.R.:




..which converts to a whopping $0.17 US.

all of that is swell and certainly was enough to make my night, but I wasn't finished finding. as I drew nearer to the end of the route I discovered nearly a half-case of bottled water (11 bottles-- that's 11 coffees!), a new, nearly full bottle of windex (more windex than i'd normally use in a year) and a new, nearly full roll of paper towels (always handy)... someone bought all that stuff & left it at an air-vac. the windex & towels were obviously only used once and abandoned, and maybe the same 'someone' took what was needed from a full case of bottled water & left the rest. that's a $20 score, easy.

so much scored on one night's ride. total providence.
