Hello everyone. I bought a small set of a 1999 penny, nickel, quarter, and dime a while back in an antique shop for $5, because I was just starting out and didn't realize how terrible that deal was. Anyways, it worked out in the end because the nickel and quarter have lightly toned up pinkish and yellow. The fields of the nickel and rim of the quarter are toned. It's a bit difficult to see without light, but it's most certainly there. Should I leave them to tone longer, or take them out, put them into something air tight to prevent further toning? Opinions please!

Also if it is helpful the coin set are sealed in a little plastic wrap kind of thing-almost like shrink wrap, and then the coins are in a foam/cardboard piece inside. Sealed.

Pictures would help. If they're sealed inside plastic with cardboard, it's a good bet the sulphur in the cardboard is causing the toning, so it all depends on if you like it or not. For reference, I picked up a couple Effigy Mounds quarters in South Carolina last April, folded them in a thin piece of hotel cardboard to protect them, and this is what one looks like today compared with one stored in a tube.

Thanks everyone. I pulled out the nickel and left the quarter. Hopefully the quarter will toke more in a few years, and the nickel will stay toned. Thanks!
