Hi :)
In change today I received this quarter. We I got the pile of change I heard something off. From first looking at the rim I thought I had a silver quarter. Then I see it is a 2009 US VI quarter.
I don't have access to a scale at the moment but it surely sounds different and it looks different.
Any thoughts?

Quote: Any thoughts? Yes, please post full pics of the front and back and one or two of the edge. When you do get access to a good scale, please post the weight. It can be a few different things, but we won't know for sure until we have more info. Thx.

Dang that's a tall pic! :D
I thought I read that these were supposed to have been minted in Philadelphia and Denver. This quarter has an S mark.

The San Francisco mint made silver proof quarters in 2009. This looks like one, nice find!

Or it is one of the plated ones from HSC? Weight? I'm not seeing a proof finish on this coin. .

Could be a proof, but doesn't have the "proof" look in the pictures. Maybe plated?

GABatGH, Congrats on 100 posts! You need to weigh it. Might be a silver coin or a plated with silver coin. John1

I have quite a number of medals that are plated and this doesn't have that look. The coin is 6.5 grams.

It's not 'proof' it it was pulled from circulation ... the grade automatically drops to BU once human hands touch a coin IMHO
