I bid on this ebay coin thinking it was a nice circulated Mass Cent at $125, and was going to throw a final bid up at the end but now the bidding has gone crazy. One of the bidders is quite knowledgeable on colonials....so what am I missing? Is this a super rare Ryder variety or maybe a rare counterfeit? Any ideas? The listing ends in about 24 hours. I have looked over the Ryder variety charts, could this be the Ryder 13-I? rarity 8?

13-I Is what I come up with as well. Mike Packard's records show 6 known with finest being a VF-20. Important coin for a Mass. Specialist.

52Raymo, it shows hidden bidders to me also but from experience I know from the large feedback # who it is (also a seller)and based on the category. I don't know who current high bidder is...

That's one of the nicest examples of a super-rare variety of Massachusetts cent I've seen. These don't exactly come up for auction very often...

Wow, this is just insane. From looking at the description, this seller could have very well listed it for Buy It Now at $150 and been happy. Someone else would have made A LOT of money, but he luckily decided to go with the auction format. Too bad ebay takes such a big fee!

Just to let everyone know, the winning bidder never paid. I talked to the seller before and after the auction, He was going to look into selling it elsewhere. Have not talked to him in months. The bidder was suspect which I mentioned to the seller, I wished him luck before it ended and I was hoping it went to the more experienced buyer..it did not. Buyer was playing a game.
