im not sure what is going on with this dime, my husband came across it, but cant find anything about it. he swears this has to be an error of some kind. would he be right?

@JF, first welcome to CCF. Second, it looks to me like the rim of this coin is enlarged and perhaps the diameter reduced as a result. We see these fairly often on CCF and describe them as " Dryer Coins" because this sort of thing happens when a coin is stuck in a clothes dryer. If you enter the keywords Dryer Coin in the search box at the top of your screen you will see a whole bunch of examples.

I do note that there are other ways that this can happen (e.g. "spooning"), but none of them are mint errors. This coin is silver and therefore worth saving but there is no error.

on 5he bright side that coin is 90% silver by composition. Meaning you just got a free dollar.
