panzaldi Bedrock of the Community United States 18684 Posts	Posted 12/31/2018 10:20 am if you look close at the obverse spot you will see that it appears to have a couple scratches through it. for me this is an indication that something was on the coin and someone attempted to remove it with something that scratched the surface then treated that area with something to make it less visible.
