2000 D Nickel Changing Color

This nickel is a 2000 d. It seems to have pretty good details. But it seems to be turning black. It is not paint. The rim is almost a real dark copper look.

The surface is oxidizing due to exposure to some unknown environmental element.

If you use the CCF search function with BLACK BEAUTY as your keywords, you will see a bunch of darker nickels. I don't think that this is what you've got here. Rather, I agree with the frog that this is surface staining from environmental exposure.

Thanks for replying. I did go to black beauty forums. That was interesting. I wonder what would cause this Nickle to oxidize. I will see if I can find it on google.
