However, the corner of the 7 is a nice identifier as well - pending coin condition; you can generally spot a slice and sharp edge contact verses the small date having no slice and is rounded in the corner of the 7. Personally, I draw an imaginary line from the bottom of the 1 to the bottom of the 7 and then to the bottom of the 0. If that line is straight, it is a small date. If the line makes a V because of the lower tip of the 7, it is a large date.
