My guess is Struck Through Grease on the dies

It is actually a later die state with just extreme die wear.

@ccobb - That's an interesting example! I like Ikes and that die wear gives a nice eye appeal. No added value, but fun all the same.

(But beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.)
