This coin is somewhat similar to the Numista coin, though the Numista listing is flawed. Both are North African types from the Umayyad period, c. early 8th century, which are frequently found in Spain. Frochoso group II.
It is good to bear in mind that the distance across the Gibraltar Strait is only 9 miles. Through much of the Medieval period, the Spanish peninsula (al-Andalus) was more closely tied to Africa (al-Maghreb) than to Europe.
The attribution of the 'mintless' coins to a North African mint is based on the epigraphy, which is shared with other coins bearing the names of North African mints and which differs from that of coins bearing the mint name al-Andalus. The most obvious difference is that the North African coin have line breaks within words. The chart below shows the standard epigraphy on the left and the North African on the right.
