On the reverse in the United States of America. The letters seem to rise off the coin.

That is called split plating. The plating is split and now showing the zinc. No premium for this. Eventually the coin will all become useless when this happens. So buy a variety with an issue of split plating. In time, you money will go away in zinc rot.

@JLam, of course the letters *are* raised on these coins. Are you maybe asking whether or not the relief is higher than usual? I do see that the E and S of STATES are weakly struck, perhaps due to grease in the die.

@coop just beat me to posting. Now that he mentions it, I do see some split plating too. Is that what you were talking about?
