I would call that a NICE repunched mint mark.

That's kind of what I thought.

It does have the marks in the hair, and a worn mark on the 'T'. Can't say anything about the ear.

Looks more like 1944D-1MM-010 to me. Is there a strong crack across the shoulder above the VDB? Also a die crack from the mint mark to the tip of the 4 in the date? That would be 010. What leads me to believe it is not 002 is that the spread north is stronger on 010 and the spread inside the lower inside is stronger on 002. Maybe an image of the whole date would help so I could do an overlay.

Overlay appears to be 002. With the marks on the devices it makes it harder to overlay, but 010 is too far South. Nice find. Looking again now at your second image, now I see the inside mark on the lower inside loop. Nice find and thanks for sharing.

Looks like it needs a bath... LOL Nice mineral oil bath and a soft brushing with a worn out toothbrush. But experiment first on a dirty circulated coin first to get the technique. Try rubbing the brush in several directions rotating the coin and see if it helps. Works for me. Again, only on circulated coins, not good for BU/proof coins.

Rock Dude - for information sake, in one of your pictures you pointed to the doubling on the 4 digit, which can be seen actually on both 4 digits. This is actually a Master doubled die, so every 1944 Lincoln Cent, whether P, D or S will have that doubling to a certain degree. BJ Neff

BJ; the pointer is part of the microscope and can only be rotated and not removed unless I brake it out of there. Thanks
