This is a fairly hard to find RPM, but I have wanted one for some time. If you look at the image of the date on VV for this variety, the 8 looks doubled. I wanted another example to compare. Here is the VV photo So just cherrypicked one and it arrived today. Nice enough coin but appears to be lightly cleaned. But more importantly, does the 8 show the same doubling? Answer: yes it does. So probably need to run this by one of the attributers and see if they either missed it or if it was determined not to be a doubled die. 1938-D Lincoln Wheat cent RPM-007 (WRPM-008)

Great RPM. But I feel they are jumping the gun on the die stage calling this an EDS. It is close to LDS with the die flow lines SE on the mint mark area. Always great to show new finds. Why? Because it alerts others to know what to look for on RPMs.
I just checked coppercoins and they don't have an example yet, so if they re-open, you might want to submit it to them to get the images on the site later on.

Excellent pick TB ! The 8 from all the mints in 1938 can be found with master die doubling Here is a pic of my EDS rpm#2 that shows it.

That's some pretty strong master die doubling! Thanks for helping figure that one out as it has bothered me since I saw the VV example long ago. But happy to learn what it is while putting a good RPM in the collection.

Nice pickup and great images TB.
Just curious about the lighter color lines above "GOD _E TR" on the inside curved edge of the rim. Is this just light reflecting off the top of these letters or something else? Thanks in advance, PP

Just took a look at the coin to see what is up with the lighter color above some letters. It would seem that above those letters the rim is ever so slightly cupped toward the rim. And the angle of the metal right there is creating a reflection in that cupped area off the light hitting the letters. Makes it look like something more interesting than it is, but very good spot as the photo does make it look like something is going on there.

Stoneman227: Does yours have the DDR on it, or was the reverse die changed before your coin was struck

Coop , the later die states of rpm #2 have the DDR. Mine has the earlier reverse with the die crack to the O of One. It also has an unpublished crack to the N of One.

Stoneman, your EDS is in a tad better condition, but mine is a Wexler stage A pre-die crack on the reverse.

Thanks TB for looking at the rim above the motto. I figured it was light but my curiosity couldn't ignore it.
