Hello all- I don't usually buy these but I thought it looked like a nice one: shows well in hand. What do you think?

AU quite high end for the grade, most will say 58 I bet, but the only reason I'm calling it AU55 is the reverse staining. Things I really dig as a connoisseur of deuces on your coin are;

1. Date, it's not 1864 or 1865
2. Rim Cud on the reverse above A in America
3. Obverse partial railroad rim

I'd give her a rinse in acetone to see if it improves the stained areas, at worst it get's rid of harmful PVC lurking around the surfaces. Great original undamaged surfaces on this coin, it would be fine for either a date series collection or in a type coin collection.

May I see a close up of the date I think I see signs of a RPD on the one. As for grade I'm sorry to buck the trend but I think EF45. Its a strong strike with good shield lines so I would not expect the see the level of wear on the leaves or the slight blurring of the horizontal shield lines on an AU coin. I'm sure these days it would get slabbed AU just not in my book.

I'm at AU 53 as I believe I see some wear on the high points of the shield and wreath plus weakness in the We that keep it from 55. Very nice pickup!

AU 55 first came into mind and I'm sticking with that. Chatter on the shield is one reason.
