The doubled ear for that year only exist on a 1988 P LMC, not a 1988 D.

The ear isn't doubled. It's completely normal.p

Rabbit, could you take another closeup pic of that area without so much lighting and glare? I am interested to see the earlobe without so much glare. Also a pic of the whole obverse please.
