That's what I was thinking too, but out of the entire roll, this is the only one I found

If that's the case, then the die might have chipped right after striking the other coins.

Looks more like the fields were polished away leaving a couple of waves on the fields.

Could also be showing some Die Deterioration Doubling by the left side of the thumb, forefinger, and the torch just above it. There is die wear showing in the fields there.

My Denver roll had a ton of DDD.... mostly on the reverse in "United States of America" I'm interested to see if there are any varieties that show up in this new series....
