Can Anyone Identify This Coin? Or Even Where To Start Looking?

It would help if you told us the weight and diameter and showed us a picture of the other side.
Are there letters around the rim? If so can you read any one them?

It may not be a coin but a medal.

Very interesting item! Perhaps a religious medal, as the person appears to have her/his hands clasped in prayer and kneeling.

If you need to take a photo at a different angle to see the lettering, this would be helpful, as would a pic of the other side, and your comments on whether the metal looks like bronze, or is more gray/silver in color, as mentioned by others.

Good thought @norantyki--perhaps a communion token. I agree that the subject appears to be kneeling and praying, but isn't that a bed rather than a prei-dieu? Here is a closeup:

The idea about Joan of Arc is interesting but I'm pretty sure this is a communion token because of the young woman's posture. Her back and head are vertical and her eyes are forward, as if she's at attention, and her wrists appear to be bent backwards so her palms can be upward. Praying posture is different, either head down solemnly or head up looking to heaven, with palms together and fingers straight or intertwined.
