Looks silver but not sure if it is Chinese or Japanese. Any one know and who the general is on the obverse? Measures 23 mm and weighs 5.47 grams. Thanks in advance

If I had to guess, judging by the style, I'd say it's Taiwanese. Purely speculation here.

Just did some searching and came up empty. Was reminded that Taiwan is part of China.

I am familiar with Taiwan. The founder of it in 1949 was Chiang Kai Shek. This fellow does not look a bit like him. Chiang was very very gaunt .

Yeah. I noticed that too. I tried generals from other Asian countries too in my searching.

Maybe my bump here will put it in front of some fresh, knowledgeable eyes.

I did a little more looking to see if I could identify him from a photo. I'm bad at it but this guy looks a lot like him.

Looks like he had an above average career. Though didn't end well.

Edit: I've tried posting the Wikipedia link a couple of different ways and it's not directing correctly. Sorry.

Commemorating an imperial visit in 1912 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Japanese Red Cross.

As a side note, I've been looking at this for nearly a day now thinking "I recognise that coin, I'm certain that it's Taiwanese".
Then, just now, realising that I own this medal and have done for some years. Old age is getting to me.
