I found this 1982 P LMC and am thinking this is a victim of a Grease Filled Die. While there are abrasion scratches I don't think this is Die Deterioration as nothing shows to be moving towards the rim on any of the devises. If grease caused this the it did a heckuva job as I haven't seen a Greaser quite like this one before.

Not seeing it as a Greaser. Looks pretty normal for the year with a little circulation flattening.

Thanks John1. Kind of reminds me of the 1976 P DDO-001.

Reminds me of CONECA DDO-003

But LIBERTY doesn't look like a match? Wexler has other listings also, But doesn't seem like a match to them either:

It maybe a new die. Jim get some larger images of this coin to send to Wexler and see what he thinks. It might be a new doubled die?

Mr. Coop, I was extremely hesitant to think that it is, I did however search and found no matches. I'll send pics to John. Thanks Mr. Coop.

Pics have been sent to John Wexler. If he thinks a good candidate for a new listing I'll send it in with a few others I have.

It might take awhile for John Wexler to get back to you. He seems to be very busy lately.

I'm not too sure this is a DDO. The tops of the letters looked to have decreased in size, on normal 1982 cents the letters are thicker. It's also suspicious that the areas affected (IGWT) have heavy die scratches while areas unaffected (date) don't. I think this is an abrasion issue, not DDD, DDO, or grease.

It does look interesting on the "WE" to me. So wait on John on this one. He maybe busy, but it pretty good at getting back when he can. Keep it safe for now.

I sure will. When I first saw that cent I started laughing my tail off. In hand it's a site to see, the E looks like a Christmas tree.

Mr. Coop, now that is funny! But that's almost what I thought when I first saw it! I found an 82 D that is pretty close to the 82 P today.
