When you are looking at coins on line a business card can be used on the tops of the images to see if it is a small or large date on your computer screen.

Another tip. If the image on the auction is not horizontal, it is probably a large date being passed off as a small date. but the business card still works on these images also. Give it a try with the ones on the screen I'm Posting. Also watch out on ebay. Some will show you a variety coin when selling bulk coins. So ask them before your buying if you get the example on the screen. (I think the coin was a 1949-S cent with the one with the DDO on the '4' on the date) So read the small words with as much intent as the large letters on the top of the auction.
