I have a 2001 Nickel that the lettering is faint around the edges on both sides. Also the rim instead of being square on the corners, has sort of a chamfored edge. Was it just not stuck hard enough? Thought it was kind of neat when I found it so I kept it.what do you all think of it?
Possible that the dies were wiped down with a cloth to remove grease. When this happens it spread the grease around filling the device on the die in, preventing the devices from striking up fully. These are mostly not noticed, until it fills the die about 80%+: The bigger the error, the more interest will be shown in them.
Alright that makes sense. I know these are fairly minor errors but wanted to check these out and learn the what's and why's about them. Thanks for all the info.
Sorry, Your just starting to warm me up a bit. I have a lot of images and like to show everyone what I see on their coin. That way they learn more than a yes or no answer can give. I was taught that way and decided to move new ones a lot fasting in seeing what I see on their coin.
That's a good way to do it, that way people much less educated on the terminology (such as myself) can see what what you are explaining. I appreciate it.
