This one is in really nice shape except for the damage the Verdigris has caused. I've used Verdicare on it and it is much improved over what it was but makes me sad to see what damage can be caused by Verdigris...

John, it's been in twice so far. It will be going in again soon. When I first got the coin it was really bright green. It's far better than it was but not quite there yet...

I have an IHC in similar condition to yours and although the coin improved somewhat after using Verdi-Care the damage to the surface was already done and beyond repair. I think you'll see a lot of damage if you ever get that green blob removed. Best of luck.

Thanks jafo50. I understand that completely. I just don't want it to continue to grow. Nipping it in the bud is where I'm at with this.

Try doing what John said, drop a drip right on the bad spot and let it sit for an hour or so, then take a Q tip and genitally wipe clean.

To bad. Looks like it could have been worth a lot of money if not for that.

I've had luck practicing on AG IHC with verdigris. As stated above, unfortunately the damage is baked into the surface under the Verdigris. In conjunction with a good soaking of VerdiCare, I've put the coin in the freezer for a good hours then room temperature for an hour. I've repeated this process several/many times. The warm/cold expansion/contraction, seems to break-up the surface verdigris while using the Verdicare and Q-tip.

A shame, but good luck with the spot treatment.

Whatever Verdi-care accomplishes, there will likely be a discolored and pitted area underneath. This coin is a cull, I'm afraid.

Probably. One does not know until they look. Nothing to lose but time and a few drops of Verdi Care.

Tony, you're absolutely right. I just meant irreparably damaged, not worthless. I hope the OP will show us the results!
