, but isn't odd that the beads around neck ,diamonds and lower hair curls are pretty worn but NOT the sharp date .

XF45 Not sure if the surface has been messed with or not.

My first thought when I saw the pictures is that those surfaces don't look quite right. I would guess this coin will not straight grade. Otherwise, I agree with XF details.

XF45 pushing AU but I think the coin was cleaned and probably would receive a details designation

Could this be evidence of a coin doctor? I don't know for sure what the tell tell signs are. This one is straight graded, however I have been told by a respected dealer who lives near me that doctored coins get in slabs frequently.

Straight graded by who? That could make a difference.

Good question. Slabbed or not, this coin will not bring close to 45 money.

I'm with XF details, and investing in a 1877 is a big deal. maybe this one got the key date "gift" from the TPG

Only 2 obverse dies (business strikes) known for this date. This one has the weak feather tips. Easy XF45 however I would not be surprised to see this in an AU50 slab. Possible cleaned and retoned.
