I have a coin that was in a box with all sorts of other old US coins that came from my father in law. It was wrapped in a piece of paper that read "Shun Chim (possibly Chih) 1644-1661. I'm just assuming/guessing it is Chinese. Have found some (internet) that resemble it, at least. No other info on it.
Its in poor condition, and I'd imagine very common, but thought I'd take a few minutes to research it. Thanks, I bet you folks get tired of this.
I guess when you're considering something that is possibly 500 years old, it is rather crude to refer to it as "poor".
My father-in-law has given us lots of things he's collected or held back over the years, to the point that its getting to be difficult for us to keep things organized, or orderly. I'd decided to try and ebay some things. Chip away at the excess, maybe. It leaves you feeling a bit guilty, but I don't want to pass this on to my daughter.
When I ran across this, I didn't know what to think. Is Shun Chim even an accurate description?
