I Have an Oregon Trail Commemorative Half Dollar with some really unfortunate toning. I'll post pictures a little later when I'm by my laptop. My question is: If I wanted to clean the coin and give it a second chance to tone nicely. How would you recommend me doing it. I'm not too concerned with the devaluation of a cleaned coin. I think it'd grade okay, not fantastic, it's just seriously lacking in eye appeal.

I know I'm using the 'C' word.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

I haven"t looked at the coin in a while. Forgot about the edge damage.

The reverse imho looks pretty good, it's the obverse that is fugly. I tried acetone but nothing changed.

Let the arguing start!
Yeah, that is pretty ugly, I have a Carver half with the same problem - maybe someone can give a remedy other than melt.

Just leave it alone. It is what it is.

If you want a better one then go out and buy one. There is no shortage of them out in coinland.
