I'm on a budget like most of us. Looking for something with a little circulation wear to it like this. In your opinion what should this go for?

I don't love the looks of that one and while not an expert on the series, would worry about authenticity.

I would look for something certified given the rate at which these are counterfeited. You might find something in the $150-200 range if you look a bit. Or buy raw from a trusted source such as a local coin store or at a show.

Duly noted on authenticity. I'm really new at older coin collecting. Figured I'd get my feet wet with the 7070.
I'm always afraid of getting screwed so your advice on going with something certified is warranted. Thanks for the advice KenKat.

In addition I'd stay away from that specific example authenticity being ignored. That huge Rim ding on the reverse just kills the coins appeal. I think I'll have to agree with Ken cat on the authenticity being questionable something about it just doesn't look right for a circulated coin.

Pass on the coin. It does have a type 1 obverse and reverse, but the stars all look very flat and there should be more wear on the rims. The wear on the stars is not consistent with the wear on the rim. I am not going to call it a counterfeit, but I would not risk my money on the coin. At best the coin has been cleaned.

Here is a PGCS Fine that has about the same wear. Note how the rims are worn down and their are still some divider lines visible on the stars. On the OP coin no star lines are visible.

I would pass on it, these are plentiful and can be purchased in a TPG holder without any/much premium. Large numbers of fakes, so why take a chance.

The two Seated dollars and the Trade dollar were the coins I worried the most about in terms of counterfeits. I bought two in details slabs and cracked them and bought the other from a trusted source. Most of the other coins in the 7070 I felt ok buying raw, but not these.

I bought a raw Trade dollar for my 7070, but it was from a trusted CCF member. I doubt I would have bought it raw otherwise.

I'd get one certified by a TPG and then crack it out of the slab. Too much risk getting a raw one especially on ebay.
