Ben Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 4208 Posts	Posted 01/30/2019 5:32 pm I have seen coins come out like this from very harsh soils. It was likely heavily encrusted and then treated with electrolysis, then potentially pickled to boost the silver appearance. A lot of fabric is lost from coins in this condition so coming in somewhat underweight can be expected. Or...it was cast. Small coins like this would likely have a noticable sprue mark somewhere.
