Is anyone else seeing what looks to me like a secondary RPM just to right of the D mint marker, which can very well be another D or perhaps even an S? What do you all think?

No,I do not see it. OMM's stopped in the late 1950's, I think.

I'm not seeing it either, a RPM would usually be more pronounced and raised. Also, I don't believe an S mintmark was ever used in 1962.

It's a case of Pareidolia. Your mind puts an image together that isn't necessarily there.

Note the size difference. It is were a punch issue, it would have to be the same size as the mint mark punch. Just you brain trying to identify something. (The same thing the brain does when you are sleeping. When you dream, unconnected things seem logical. When dreaming you accept what your dreaming as making sense. When you wake up and think about it, it made no sense) You brain does this to you. Your brain automatically tries to identify something and then can realize it is something else.
