*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. Titles are Important! ***

Hi, I'm a new member and am relatively new to the Coin World. For me it's a hobby in my retirement years. I enjoy searching through circulated coins, especially pennies, Nichols, dimes, quarters & half-dollars.

Just recently I came across what I believe to be a small date 1972-S. I understand from reading one of the comments in here, there are no small date 72 pennies. It is a well circulated coin, so it won't make the grade for a mint state or proof coin.

To the CCF

The small date only applies to S mint marks.
Philadelphia and Denver are all large MM so
what you have could be a small MM

There are no small date/large date variations known for 1972 cents. We'll need pics to help you figure out what you're seeing.

So if a coin is a large date or small date and the year does have two different ones. What do they call it? Normal. So it is neither large or small date that year. Just a normal coin.
