I'm totally new to this. I came across this dime and would like to know if it has any value. Why does it look like this?

At this point you have a damaged coin. It doesn't matter about the year. But the coin is altered. PSD

Maybe it doesn't show, but the dot is raised,not indented. There are no facial features. They couldn't have worn off, could they, with the facial bump being raised?

Unless the object was reducing the size from the edge inwards. Note how round it is.
