So I get a mystery package in the mail today from Stoneman. Interesting stuff in there, and I am taking a look through it. There is a very nice 1944-D labeled DDO-009, which is a decent doubled eyelid. But this coin does not have a big doubled eyelid below the main eyelid. And so what is it as surely Stoneman wouldn't blow such an easy call.
I figured a simple mis-label problem. But it's not a class 6 DDO and I couldn't see any extra eyelids and well, that's what there is for that year. But... Then I saw it, the little bit of doubling above the 9 in the date. Looked around and found it as 1944D-1DO-016 on Coppercoins. And guess who discovered it? Yup, Stoneman.
So thanks a ton for the coins you sent and Stoneman I owe you one (in more ways than one).
