1sikevo, your 16-D is genuine. The "D" has all the diagnostics of a genuine coin. In this level of preservation, the mintmark becomes a "blob", so no great detail on the MM will remain. Check out https://www.pcgs.com/articles/article1908.chtml This is a great article on Counterfeit Detection of the 16-D. Great looking original coin. Looks to be a solid G04. Congratulations! Welcome to the 16-D club.

Very nice 16-D.

Amazing that you have managed to avoid getting any dimes in change your whole life!

I must be strange - I get the key dates LAST, not FIRST!

I'm only collecting key dates on most series, unless there is a type set I'm after just to have. Next dime... probably the 1895-O.

A very sound strategy. Each and every coin in that collection should do well, and it's not very often that can be said!

If the hairlines are as evident in real life as they are in the picture, it may have some trouble slabbing at PCGS/NGC. What's throwing me off is the coin's nice color. It doesn't look as cleaned as the hairlines suggest. It's got a shot at VG8, but I'm a bit skeptical. Most importantly, it sounds like you've found an excellent dealer to work with.

OK cool. Good luck with the 1895-O too. According to another post on here, they are undervalued!
