Hello Everyone,
My name is Robert. I am a 38yr old American living in Japan running a car/parts export business. Anyways, I was born in NV. USA. I heard about this forum from YouTube. Been asking a lot where a good forum was cause I was not having any luck. So I hope this is the one.
My hobbies of course are coins, stamps, older sports cards and memorabilia. I am thinking to get into Japanese coins and offer what I learn on varieties and low mintage to the community. It will take awhile to get to that stage, but excited to get into it, since I don't think many people are doing so inside Japan.
I started collecting US, European, and Oceania coins since I was in grade school and then the US Navy, my 20's, and college to start business got me side tracked. Now I have a family and settled down in Japan, my torch for collecting has been lit once again. hahaha
Glad to be here and I hope to meet a lot of good people and learn a lot. Best, Robert

Robert: to the CCF! My brother - in - law has been importing new OE parts for his three little sports cars, has one of each, nearly identical: MX-5 Eunos Miata, and has been importing for quite a few new OE parts for his friends as well, these cars being almost exclusively MX-5's. I have a few Japanese coins, including 19th Century rectangular gold 2Shu and 1 Bu pieces.

50 quality posts allows other forum members to get to know you better! Otherwise it's easy for scammers to hit and run.
Try and get a JNDA catalog, should be priced reasonably. Another one to try is the Dansco Japan type set (7460). That is a good challenge. Its a type set of Japanese coins from 1870 - 1970. It's out of print since 1960s and can be hard to find. I completed mine a while back and expanded on it - only to see a few big holes. Google "gxseries Japan type set". Ccf for some reason doesn't allow me to post the link even though I am the creator.

Welcome to the Forum! You've come to a phenomenal place to share and learn!
I've been putting together a ten Yen set. Thought it'd be easy but I'm stuck. I'm only missing four or five of the more recent years. I don't know why the newer coins are so hard to come by.
If you ever need to have something shipped from the Chicago area or anything I could help you with I would gladly do an exchange for the dates I'm missing.

Hello Everyone,
Thanks for all the comments and Welcoming me here. Truly surprised to have so many over night. Sorry for the delay reply, time zones differences suck. hahaha
sel_69l: Nice! That sounds exciting what your brother-in-law is doing.... maybe I can help him out. It's reassuring to know that people are indeed collecting japanese coins.
gxseries: Thanks for the insight of the JNDA catalog and Dansco Japan type set. I will look into it.
T-BOP: Awesome shipmate! Yes, it is a good place, especiallyin the country side.
chafemasterj: Sure thing, I would love to help you complete your collection. I will also need to find out the export laws though on coins from Japan. I recently found out from KleshGuitars YT that US to Japan shipments for coins has been prohibited among other countries too. Luckily my parents live in the US. So you need 2013~2019 ¥10 coins?
Made a reply like this cause I don't see a button on each comment to reply directly to each person. Best, Robert
