Is it worth buying a roll for 50$ roughly?

You can get uncirculated rolls on ebay for around $35-40, so $50 is a bit of a premium.

$50 seems out of line. I have a complete set of jeffersons from beginning to date and had no problem getting the 2009. Even my 1950D is now worth half of what it was when I got it 10 years ago.

They are not rare by any means. Just scarce in circulation due to speculators.

Why? Probably dead money. Reminds me of the 1950-D nickels, which burned many speculators.

IMHO the only ones getting burned are the suckers paying $30-$50 a roll on ebay today. The majority of 2009 nickels & dimes were scarfed up at face value & immediately for sale on ebay at greatly inflated prices. (similar to the 50D which had a much lower mintage) Quit buying at that price & they'll drop the price.....

At $50 per roll, no. Worth it per the low mintage numbers relative to other years, yes. Unless you are under thirty, I don't see much of an increase in your lifetime. Percentage wise, the 2009 and 1950d are very similar comparative to those same higher mintage numbers. So you could use the 1950d as an indicator for future value.

As for myself? I buy any 2009 denomination when available at a reasonable price. For the record, that was another of many times throughout numismatic history of low production figures due to economic and turbulent times.
