Hi Daviscad,
Im not sure if you are trying to find errors or if you just want key dates? The big one obviously is one of the 1926 issues if you happen to find one. There is a near and far date on that one. The far 6 one is pretty valuable. There are also different 1953's also. With and without the shoulder strap on the queen. Do you have a canadian reference book?

Quote: Do you have a canadian reference book? nahh I dont have one. I just figured I would go through them and see if there was anything interesting. I dont know much about canadian coins. I just know that the .999 nickels are worth more than face. and will be nice to have several hundred saved up. Thanks for the dates

ok, well the 1925 is also a keeper. There is 3 1947 nickels. plain, one with a maple leaf after the date, and one with a dot after the date. The dot one is pretty valuable too. Also there is a high relief obverse of the 1951 that is valuable so so set aside any 51's you find and then you can go through them after to see if you got any of the good ones. In 1964 they made some nickels with an extra water line. Those are worth a good amount, if you can find one. In 1965 there is a large or small beads varieties. The large beads would be great to find. Also, in 1977 they have high and low 7's in the date. You want the low.
I'm going to send you a pm after dinner here so keep your eyes open.

Those are worth looking through for the varieties. I assume there are no steel/chrome coins from the 50s? There are some varieties for 1951 and '53 that are worth a lot.

I have a question: I have a full set of nickels with both 26's, both 53 shoulder straps. I don't remember what I gave for it, but I have a friend that wants to buy it and I would like a ball park figure. All coins are at least F-VF to AU and stop with 1983. Would someone help me on this? Thanks. Bill S.

Bill, there are 4 shoulder strap varieties (if not more) The valuable ones are: No shoulder strap with near maple leaf and date, and: Shoulder strap with far maple leaf and date.
These are considered "mules" and command hundreds of $ in circ. grades. The normal two coins for 53 can be had for $10 ea. in MS64, but the value goes down quick if there's any rust (they're chrome plated steel)

Thank you, Kurt. That's good to know and I will check them out. I am not usually blessed with good fortune enough to have a rarity. If anyone can give me an estimate on the value of the entire set of nickels, I sure would like to know. Bill S.

Bill,
It might be a little easier to write a separate post with a little more info if you want a value estimate. You say the grades are at least F-VF all the way to AU, but depending which ones are the F's and which ones are the AU's the value can be significantly different. Maybe write your post with a list of the nickels with the grade for each? That may be a pretty long list but might make things easier for us when searching for a value.

Malissa, the coins start out at 1922 through the 50's where they were F-VF, and into the 50's through 60's where they appear to be XF and into the late 70's through 83 where they are like XF to AU. I don't feel the need to make a list by listing each coin separately with it's condition. I don't feel it's necessary. All coins in this set are virtually the condition I have stated. Just shoot me a figure, please. Bill S.

Hi Bill,
Do you happen to have to the 1951 high relief in your set? That as well would add value to the set.
