so my mom brought over some coins and one was a 1976 ike. From what I can tell it looks like a type 2 with no proof am I right?

Can't tell without seeing the back, and it's not a proof if that's what you were getting at.

The type 1 and 2 were based on the reverse design, specifically the size of the text around the top. I usually look at the T in STATES for an easy id.

Judging by The r in Liberty I can almost guarantee its a type 2.

True.

For the record, look at the "E" and "R" in LIBERTY. Most notable to me is that the "R" on the Variety 1 has a peg leg.

Yes, overall the V2 "R" is fatter than on the V1.
