It's a 1942 D/D RPM 002. I'd say the coin is 62-63. Any ideas about pricing?

My pics are not so great. The RPM is pretty sure as it has the proper die markers next to the eagle's head and at the end of BUS. I'll try and post pics but I still haven't figured out how to manage my white balance. In the mean time, assuming a 62-63 grade, any thoughts on value?

I am missing something here. What denomination coin are we referring to?

Still need pictures. We have had RPMs that indeed were RPMs and the pictures confirmed it. More often than not though we see what is being called an "RPM" that is merely Machine Doubling damage. I know that I am always reluctant to give a price range on someone elses attribution of a coin as many of the coins end up on ebay. Many of which are not identified correctly. You would be more likely to get a price range if you post a picture. Thanks, Bill

So I tried to take some photos with my digital rebel. Doesn't seem like I can blow them and keep them from losing all the detail. Any advice about taking macros with this kind of camera? Can it be done or do I need better equip?

Most close up shots, like mint marks and such, are taken through a micro scope using a digital camera. Unless you have a digital camera with a very high zoom capability and short focusing distance, your pictures will be nothing but a blur.

I use a microscope for my shots. Also picked up this scope for 80.00 on e-bay and am still playing with the lighting for shots that I get with the microscope.

hi, I know this may sound a little weird, but I post close up shots VERY often on here and I just use my macro setting with my desk lamp overhead, and I hold a 10x magnifying loop over the lens of my camera. It might take 1 or 2 pics to keep your hand steady but it works every time for me. I wouldnt mind a microscope myself, but the expense doesn't justify itself for me when my pics work just fine this way. hope that helps

That's kind of what I figured. Anyway it has all the correct markers as I said. The RPM is quite clear to me. Here's a couple of photos that show the die markers on the reverse. Look to the right of the eagle's head and the long break in the right wing. The D/D aspect is very sharp, looks like a second MM is falling out of the first. I finally figured out the white balance. The coins are a little more champagne colored than in hand but pretty close. Die marks are quite clear on obverse.

How do I input photos so they have that red and white border that allows magnification?

I upload my photos at photobucket.com they allow you to use much larger photos than the forum does and then they show up in the box that can be clocked to make it bigger.
