Louis the Fat, huh?

You're digging deeper into the medievals. Nice additions here tonight, Ron.

I have a copy of Mayhew's book:
'Coinage in France From the Dark ages to Napoleon',
(164 pages), publ. Seaby, London, 1988.
Illustrates nearly 300 coins in all metals, covers almost the same period of time.

Ron, the organization of Roberts book takes some getting used to. As you are finding out, the coins are separated first by type (e.g. Feudal) and then by major design element (typically from the side that doesn't have a cross). You have a nice pick-up here.

Really interesting coin!
Is that a temple type motif, or something else?
And Montreuil is a new one to me for French mints (though I think I've seen that indicated as the end of one of the Paris Metro lines?)

Thanks all.

Haven't gotten the book yet Dave, I don't have any reference material on these coins so when I saw this I grabbed it.

Not sure if that a mint or a sub-type, I have those same questions, hopefully the book will answer those questions.
