We recently started collecting. My husband acquired this coin from the bank! I've read that there could be as many fakes as the real. Can anyone give me some info on this coin!

Need a picture to see, yes there are definitely fakes out there, however mintage is quite high so still quite a common coin.

While mintage is supposedly high, depending on what province the coin is from - prices vary drastically. There are plenty of other factors out there - survival rates of such coins are somewhat low as many became jewellery pieces, melted down during various history drama, i.e. Long March, WWII, communist revolution etc.

And of course, there are plenty of fakes out there. Pictures are necessary for a start.
